A spectacular balcony overlooking Lake Garda (almost a thousand metres below) where you can relax and savour typical Trentino dishes in a place that has for centuries been one of prayer and meditation. The Rifugio Monte Calino “San Pietro” was an ancient hermitage close to the little church of San Pietro. In 1930 it was bought and rebuilt by the Riva branch of SAT (Association of Trentino Mountaineers), who restored the building in 1996. Access is very easy, through the villages of Ville del Monte or Calvola, where a dip into the past begins. When you get to the refuge, you’ll find children are also catered for with a meadow with a little playground. Open All year round Before leaving for your hike, always contact the manager to verify the actual opening of the mountain hut Walks The long walks to Passo del Ballino, Favrio and Passo San Giovanni al Monte can be undertaken by any walker and take about 4 hours (difficulty E).

By road

From the village of Ville del Monte on foot on path 406 in 1 ½ hours (difficulty E) From Gavazzo Nuovo on foot on the Val di Gola Path, signposted 401, which passes Tenno (2 ¼ hours, difficulty E). From Malga Lomasona (the road from Dasindo) on foot on path 410 to Sella del Calino and then path 406 to the refuge (2 hours, difficulty E).

Hi. Me and my friend are doing the Garda Trek top loop so therefore we want to sleep in San Pietro from 3-4 July. However I see it is temporarily closed and they don't pick up the phone or don't answer my email. Do you have a recommendation on what to do? Is there any alternative that is possible to sleep on the second night while doing the Top Loop? I really hope to hear from you soon! Thanks in advance. Kind regards, Myrthe
