This walk connects Campitello to Canazei, passing through "Pian". It is a charming little settlement, testimony of the first people that inhabited Val di Fassa, who chose the sunniest places. The hamlet is reachable following the Via Crucis, which features some peculiar Ladin mottos.

Starting from St. Philiph and James’ church, pass through the door on the left of the entrance door of the church. Reach the first Station of the Cross on the left. Alternatively, at the crossroads between Strèda de Salin and Strèda Sènc Felip e Giacum, go up the stairs to the right of the road. Go on and, in front of the Marian chapel, take the right. Go up the steep stepped path until you reach the ancient hamlet of Pian. Descend on the right along Strèda de Pian and leave the hamlet behind, until reaching a hairpin turn; here, take the forest road on the left, right beyond the bar. Follow this easy path, reaching Park Hotel Il Caminetto’s parking and crossing it to the left, getting to the main road. Cross it and, right after the wooden sign placed at the entrance of Canazei, take the dirt road that descends to the right onto Strèda Franz Dantone. Once reached the intersection with Strèda del Ciuch, return to Campitello on the promenade along the river.

Author’s recommendation

Walking poles, suitable for families with children, walkable for toddler-carrier/backpack, religious paths.

The "Via Crucis" (Way of the Cross", built in 1760 and refurbished in 1987) starts from St. Philiph and James’ church. Its stations are characterized by interesting sentences of reflection in Ladin language. Some of them deserve to be mentioned among most original ones: "Taking off the hat in front of Christ’s Passion is more worth than whitewashing the capital"; "Sacred Heart of Jesus protect those who pass upwards and downwards".
