DBT Stage 7: Rifugio S. Agostini - Rifugio Tosa Pedrotti
Seventh stage of the "Dolomiti di Brenta Trek" route, from Rifugio Agostini to Rifugio Tosa Pedrotti.
Rifugio Pedrotti is situated at 2491 m on a wide saddle between Cima Brenta Bassa and Croz del Rifugio and Rifugio Tosa lies just below it on a small terrace at the foot of Croz del Rifugio at 2439 m. These two refuges, in the centre of the Brenta Dolomites, lie a short way from Bocca di Brenta, the “historic” pass traversed way back in 1864. They are an ideal base for getting to know the Brenta, as they permit hikers not only to enter the wild southern part of the Group, but also the famous routes – including the ferrata delle Bocchette – in the central part.
Rifugio Tosa was the very first refuge built by the S.A.T. in 1881. Originally it was a small hut. Now it is linked to the nearby Rifugio Pedrotti, built in the early 1900s by the Sektion Bremen of the D.u.Oe.A.V. on ground belonging to the S.A.T.. After a long and controversial lawsuit, settled in 1914, the latter refuge became the property of the S.A.T.. The refuge was renovated in 1920 and a year later dedicated to the memory of Tommaso Pedrotti.

Below Rifugio Silvio Agostini begins the interesting panoramic and fairly easy Sentiero Basso “Elio Palmieri” SAT 320 (E) that crosses the amphitheatre of the Upper Val d’Ambiez and climbs the Forcolotta di Noghera (2423 m) along an easy up and down path in 50 minutes.
You continue along the path waymarked SAT 320 that from Forcolotta enters the Upper Val di Ceda, descends slightly and runs along the deep karst depression of Pozza Tramontana.
