On this itinerary you bike on cycle paths and paved roads; that's why it is suitable for all kinds of bikes. The protagonist of the loop is Monte Brione: you do not have to climb on it, but you pedal all around.

There are no ascents, so even smaller children can bike this easy trail

Author’s recommendation

In the area of Porto San Nicolò there are several ice cream shops. Do not miss the opportunity to taste a delicious gelato!

Destination

Riva del Garda - Harbour San Nicolò

Turn-by-turn directions

You leave from San Nicolò harbour and take the cycle path along the lake shore towards Torbole sul Garda till you come to the bridge over the River Sarca. Before the bridge, turn left, following directions for Arco. Cycle along the river bank for a couple of kilometres until you come to a bike grill on your left. Here you leave the cycle path, cross the main road and turn left. Head along the asphalt road before, after a few hundred metres, taking the first left. Cross secondary roads among vineyards until you come to a stop sign. Here you turn left in the direction of the hamlet of Grotta, then continue towards Sant'Alessandro, one of the outlying districts of Riva del Garda. When you come to the stop sign at the old church, turn left. On the right-hand side of the road there is a cycle path which takes you back to the starting point, San Nicolò harbour.

Equipment

Riding your bike requires specific clothing and equipment, even for relatively short and easy trips. It is always better to be prepared… e.g. for bad weather or a sudden drop in your energy levels. The unexpected things are part of the fun!

Remember to thoroughly evaluate the type of route you plan on doing, the locations you intend to cross and the current season. Has it been raining? Attention: The paths may be slippery and require more caution.

What do I need to bring on my bike tour?

  • An adequate water supply according to your needs (considering temperature, possibility of refuelling and duration of the route)
  • Plenty of snacks (for example, dried fruit or energy bars)
  • Waterproof / Windproof jacket
  • A spare top / spare socks (Descending in a sweaty garment, will make you cold).
  • Suncream
  • Sunglasses
  • Bike gloves/mitts
  • Map or GPS device
  • Bike lights: best placed on your helmet or handlebars. (It is always best to be prepared)
  • Bike repair kit for punctures and mechanical breakdowns
  • First aid kit
  • Emergency whistle

It is always advised to let someone know where you plan to go and how long you expect to be.

Emergency telephone number 112.

Sehr schöne Tour. Bestens für Kinder geeignet. Nur auf dem Sarca Radweg sollte man gut aufpassen. Einige Radfahrer sind sehr ambitioniert und mit hohem Tempo unterwegs .
